Updated schemes for individual worm management in dogs and cats

The two fact sheets on individual worm management in dogs and cats have been comprehensively revised to include substantial new information.  They are based on the recently updated seventh edition of Guideline 01: “Worm Control in Dogs and Cats.”

Each fact sheet provides veterinary professionals with decision-making flow charts that offer an evidence-based framework for tailoring parasite prevention programmes to individual animals.  They also include detailed guidance tables to be used alongside the decision trees.

The fact sheets cover:

• Treatment schedules for different parasites.
• Special considerations for different life stages, lifestyles and household situations.
• Risk group classifications to help determine how often animals should be treated or tested for parasites.
• Alternative monitoring methods, such as faecal examinations.
