ESCCAP Member AustriaAnja Joachim graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany, in 1992. After postgraduate studies in Sydney, Australia, and Copenhagen, Denmark, she became Lecturer for Parasitology at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Leipzig, Germany, in 2001.

In 2003 she was appointed as Professor of Parasitology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Austria). Her main research focuses on host-parasite interactions in porcine isosporosis and nematode infections. Amongst others, she is on the Board of the Austrian Society of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology and the European Veterinary Parasitology College and a member of the German Society of Parasitology, the German Veterinary Society and the World Association for the advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP), and she is on the Advisory Board of the Karl-Enigk-Foundation (Germany).

ESCCAP Austria is the Austrian National Association of ESCCAP and brings together some of Austria's leading experts in the field of veterinary parasitology. ESCCAP Austria works to raise awareness of the threat from parasites and to provide Austrian relevant information and advice.
