Christina Strube qualified in veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in 2000, completed her PhD in 2004 and her doctoral thesis in 2007. Since 2013, she has been a full professor and the director of the Institute for Parasitology at the same university.

Her research focuses on veterinary public health, addressing the health of both animals and humans.  Her key research areas include ticks and tick-borne diseases as well as zoonotic roundworms.  Her broader research encompasses parasite epidemiology, including the evaluation of parasite infection dynamics, domestic animal–wildlife–human interfaces and the improvement of detection methods.

Professor Strube is Chair of the Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases division of the German Veterinary Society, German representative of ESCCAP and member of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP), the American Heartworm Society (AHS), the European Society of Dirofilariosis and Angiostrongylosis (ESDA) and the German Society of Parasitology (DGP).  She is also Deputy Chairperson of the Karl-Enigk-Foundation, Germany.
