Professor Elias Papadopoulos graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.  He carried out postgraduate studies (MSc, 1992 and PhD, 1997) in the field of veterinary parasitology  at Liverpool and then Thessaloniki.

He has been a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC) since 2005.

Professor Papadopoulos is Head of the Laboratory of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of the School of Veterinary Medicine in Thessaloniki and is currently the Head of the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and Pathology at the same institution.

He teaches the theory and practice of parasitology, parasitic diseases and bee medicine. He also supervises PhD students within these fields.

He has been involved in several national and international research projects on the parasitic diseases of domestic and wild animals and has delivered keynote lectures and research findings at several scientific conferences. He has also published original research and review papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.

His research interests include various aspects of animal parasitic diseases such as vector borne diseases, epidemiology, evaluation of treatment protocols and the efficacy of antiparasitic drugs.
