Jakub Gawor is head of the Laboratory of Parasitoses of Domestic Animals in the Institute of Parasitology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. He graduated in 1983 from the Veterinary Faculty of the Agricultural University in Warsaw. In 2007 he completed his habilitation in “Investigations on small strongyles (Cyathostominae) and their control in riding horses with the focusing on drug resistance”.

Currently, he holds the position of Professor of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in Parasitology at the Institute of Parasitology PAS. His specific scientific interests are in diagnostic, prophylaxis and control of parasitic diseases of small and farm animals and also parasitic zoonoses particularly toxocariasis and alveococcosis. He is a co-author of several recent papers which have included investigations into Echinococcus multilocularisToxocara spp. and the epidemiological evaluation of risk factors for toxocariasis in children.
